Guarana Extract is best known for its guaranine content (an herbal stimulant similar to caffeine), the fruit of the guarana is also rich in tannins and flavonoids. In personal care, guarana extract has been used for its tonifying and astringent properties as well as in the treatment of cellulite. Because it has excellent antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal activity, it shows promise as preservative additive.
